Domain Renewals

All domains registered with us have auto-renewal enabled by default. This helps protect your domains from accidentally expiring.

When auto-renewal is enabled, we’ll automatically renew your domain before it expires. The first renewal attempt happens 30 days before the expiration date. If it fails, we’ll keep trying until the day before expiration.

There’s no guarantee that renewal will succeed. Renewals can fail for various reasons, including payment issues or registry downtime. We recommend checking your domains regularly to ensure they are renewed.

Note

To prevent your domains from automatically renewing, you must disable this option at least 30 days before the expiration date. After that point, renewal processing may have already started.

Requirements

To use auto-renewal, your account must have a valid payment method on file:

  • Credit or debit card — A valid Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card stored in your account. The card must not have expired and must have sufficient funds available.
  • Credit account — An approved credit account with us. Credit accounts are subject to a separate application process and credit terms.

If your payment method is missing, expired, or invalid, auto-renewal won’t work. Keep your payment details up to date to avoid failed renewals.

Renewal Failures

If the first renewal attempt fails, we’ll automatically retry several times before your domain expires:

AttemptWhen
1st30 days before expiry
2nd15 days before expiry
3rd1 day before expiry

You’ll receive an email notification after each attempt. If all attempts fail, it’s important that you contact us, or your domain may expire and stop working.

Change Auto-Renewal Settings

To change the auto-renewal setting for a domain:

  1. Log in to your account and go to Services.
  2. Find the domain you want to update.
  3. Toggle the Auto-Renew switch on or off.

When you disable auto-renewal, your domain will remain active until its expiration date. You can enable auto-renewal again at any time before expiration if you change your mind.

Note

If you want to let a domain expire, you can disable auto-renewal.

Consolidated Renewals

If you have multiple domains, you can consolidate renewals into a single monthly billing date rather than renewing each domain separately.

When consolidation is enabled:

  • All domains due to renew in the coming month are processed in a single transaction on the 1st of the month.
  • You’ll receive a single charge instead of multiple smaller ones.
  • Domains may renew earlier than usual to ensure they’re renewed at least 30 days before expiration.

To enable consolidated renewals:

  1. Log in to your account and go to Settings
  2. Enable the Consolidated Domain Renewals option

Note

If you have a credit account, consolidated renewals are automatically enabled.

Renewal Notifications

We send email notifications to help you stay on top of your renewals:

  • 30 days before renewal — Reminder with renewal prices and auto-renewal status
  • 15 days before renewal — Reminder with renewal prices and auto-renewal status
  • 7 days before — Final reminder if payment hasn’t been processed

After renewal:

  • Confirmation email with the new expiration date and payment receipt

If renewal fails:

  • Email notification after each failed attempt.
  • Instructions for manual renewal within 5 days of expiration

Make sure our emails aren’t ending up in your spam folder. We send notifications to the email address on your account and any additional addresses you’ve configured.

Refunds & Cancellations

All domain renewals are final. Once a renewal is processed and the registry extends your registration, we can’t reverse it, and no refund will be issued.

If you don’t want to renew a domain, you must disable auto-renewal at least 30 days before expiration.
